Mecidiyeköy Former Liquor Factory / Pilevneli Gallery Photographer 2020 Designed by French architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, constructed in 1930, this liquor factory played an important role in nationalizing liquor production. The building is located in Mecidiyeköy, that used to be on the outskirts of Istanbul, which was not highly populated. The gardens and fields surrounding the building served as one of the primary resources for fruits that were used in the production. Due to the relocation of the production, in 2000, the building lost its function. A new project is designed by EAA and following that the old building is demolished. Current building is built based on the archives and it functions as an art gallery today.
